The Iron County Road Commission is currently accepting applications the following seasonal positions:
- Temporary Summer Help: Wage $16.00/hr. Must be 18 years of age, and college students will be given preference
- Lead Worker-Crackfilling Crew: Wage $26.23/hr.

The Iron County Road Commission is currently accepting applications for a full-time Diesel Mechanic.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. Current wage is $28.72/ hr. The ideal candidate will excel in problem solving, have a strong background in diesel maintenance, diagnostics and repair, with the ability to work on various types of equipment, including quad and tandem axle trucks, tractors, graders and other heavy-duty equipment. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are in optimal working condition.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure saftey and efficiency
- Troubleshoot diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
- Conduct brake repairs, tire services, and other essential vehicle and equipment repairs
- Utilize welding skills for fabrication and repair of parts as needed
- Collaborate with the Shop Foreman to address complex mechanical problems
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks related to vehicle and equipment service and repair
- Emergency field repair, in all types of weather
- Ensure compliance with all saftey standards while working on equipment
Necessary experience including, but not limited to:
- Proven experience in diesel engines and/or heavy equipment repair is essential
- Experience with hydraulics and electrical is preferred
- Familiarity with vehicles and heavy equipment is preferred
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively
- A CDL is preferred, but not required
- Strong problem solving skills with attention to detail
- Display a strong work ethic
