MECHANIC

The Iron County Road Commission is looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team.  The ideal candidate would have a strong background in equipment maintenance and repair, with the ability to work on various types of equipment, including heavy-duty vehicles, quad and tandem axle trucks and tractors.  This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are in optimal working condition.  This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities

 Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure safety and efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical issues in vehicles and heavy
  • Conduct brake repairs, tire services, and other essential vehicle and equipment
  • Utilize welding skills for fabrication and repair of parts as
  • Collaborate with the Shop Foreman to address complex mechanical
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
  • Assist in heavy lifting tasks related to vehicle service and .
  • Emergency field repair, in all types of weather
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards while working on

Experience 

  • Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and heavy equipment repair is
  • Familiarity with vehicles and heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to

Successful applicants will be required to have a pre-employment physical and drug screening.

Wage: $27.47/ hour, 40 hours/week with OT as needed.
